Hazrat Ali Quotes about Life – Hazrat Ali (R.A) is praised and cherished for his conscience, knowledge and wisdom. His words are quoted almost everywhere in the discussion about life. He not only preached simplicity and good ethics, but also taught people to make the best of their lives. He R.A said,
The days of life pass away like clouds, so do good while you are alive.
He on a similar discussion once said:
Live among people in a manner that when you die they weep over you and while you are alive they crave for your company.
To Hazrat Ali (R.A), wealth in life was not accounted by the material a person had collected, but by the sincere relations he had earned. Time and again, He (R.A) emphasized on the importance of strengthening the bonds of friendship over striving for material possessions. To him, one of the most vital relations in life was that of a friend. He marked the significance of friendship in life by saying,
Unfortunate is the one who cannot gain a few sincere friends during his life and more unfortunate is the one who has gained them and then lost them (Through his deeds).
Hazrat Ali (R.A) was not just a religious scholar, but also held the best knowledge of the worldly affairs. He R.A said,
In this world, man is a target of death, an easy prey to calamities, here every morsel and every draught is liable to choke one, here one never receives a favor until he loses another instead, here every additional day in one’s life is a day reduced from the total span of his existence, when death is the natural outcome of life, how can we expect immortality?
At another place, he R.A said,
Whoever wants to be a leader should educate his self before educating others. Before preaching to others he should first practice himself. Whoever educates himself and improves his own morals is superior to the man who tries to teach and train others.
When discussing the ups and downs of life, he (R.A) suggested people to always be thankful. He talked about being hopeful and having strong faith and firm belief in the superior power. He said,
Do not let your difficulties fill you with anxiety; after all it is only in the darkest nights that stars shine more brightly.
At a similar discussion, Hazrat Ali R.A added,
Life consists of two days, one for you one against you. So when it’s for you don’t be proud or reckless, and when it’s against you be patient, for both days are test for you.
When the world pushes you to your knees, you’re in the perfect position to pray
, thus magnifying the value of prayer in life.
He R.A talked about spending lives with modesty, to not only live and dress modestly, but also talk modestly. Some wise words quoted by him in this regard are:
No mirror can show the true face of a person as how he talks shows.
A wise man always has something to say, whereas a fool always needs to say something.
